We are excited to enhance our greens maintenance schedule using some new machinery from the 1st of September to the 4th of September.
Maintaining the playing surfaces at Wembley Golf Course is no small feat, especially given the challenges of high traffic, seasonal stress, and the constant demand for playability. To meet these demands, the Wembley Golf Course has sourced two DryJect machines – incorporating cutting-edge aeration and soil amendment technology that’s going to transform turf care at our facility.
DryJect is a high-pressure water injection system that simultaneously aerates the soil and injects amendments like sand or organic materials directly into the root zone. Unlike traditional core aeration, which requires removing plugs of soil and heavy top dress sanding leading to lengthy recovery times, the DryJect machine creates narrow channels that fracture compacted soil and immediately backfill them with beneficial materials. This process improves drainage, root development, and overall turf health with minimal surface disruption.
Benefits:
- Faster Recovery and Playability: Greens treated with DryJect are playable within hours. This rapid turnaround allows us to maintain high-quality surfaces without interrupting playability.
- Improved Soil Structure: The water injection fractures compacted soil, enhancing air and water movement. This is especially beneficial in high-traffic areas like greens and teeing grounds, where compaction is a persistent issue.
- Customised Soil Amendments: DryJect will allow our team to inject specific blends of sand, organic compost, or soil enhancers like porous ceramics and biochar. These amendments improve moisture retention, nutrient availability, and disease resistance.
- Minimal Surface Disruption: The small entry holes and immediate backfilling mean less visible damage and quicker turf recovery, preserving the aesthetics and performance of the greens.
By integrating DryJect into our golf course maintenance schedule, we are not only improving turf health but also enhancing the overall golfing experience all year round. The machinery offers a smarter, more sustainable approach to aeration – one that aligns with our commitment to being Australia’s Best Public Golf Experience.
