Wembley Golf Course was the first 18 hole FootGolf course in Australia to be credited under the Federation for International FootGolf. A second course was accredited in December 2014.
FootGolf combines the challenges of golf and soccer. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with over 400 US golf courses now offering FootGolf.
The game is essentially golf played with a size 5 soccer ball and one's feet rather than golf balls and clubs. Starting from the 'teeing' area, players kick the ball to the dedicated FootGolf hole. The rules and winning concept correspond to that of golf, with the winning player scoring the least amount of kicks.
FootGolf does not require any golf or soccer skills and all age groups are encouraged to play (there is no requirement to run between shots). Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Wembley Golf Course dress code and course etiquette applies. Soccer boots with studs/cleats are not permitted. Soccer balls are provided at the Golf Shop.
How will it impact the Golf Course?
FootGolf will have very little impact on golfers as the hole locations are on fairways and away from the greens. FootGolf is available from 4:15pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Eighteen holes of FootGolf will take roughly 90-120 minutes to complete. Bookings are highly recommended for weekends.
